And Jesus came and said to them, "All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Go, therefore, and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything that I have commanded you. And remember, I am with you always, to the end of the age."
Discipleship is at the very core of FOCUS' mission, not because it is FOCUS' model, but because it is Christ's model. Through the time He invested in the men known as His disciples, Jesus was able to leave a lasting impact on the world. His friendship with these men was not arbitrary, but purposeful and life-changing. By investing our life into students (in the same way Christ did with his disciples), we can change the world.
In Discipleship, students will be challenged to dig deeper into their spiritual life and grow in the virtues of Chastity, Sobriety and Excellence. It is within this intentional relationship that Christ taught his Disciples and so it is also the way in which we will teach our students here at Auburn.
Of course, discipleship will not make the world a better place if it isn't passed on. The word's of St. Paul are especially useful here:
"and what you have heard from be before many witnesses, entrust to faithful men who will be able to teach others also"
~2 Timothy 2:2
Not only do we seek, through the power of the Holy Spirit, to form our disciples into great Christian men and women--we also teach and equip them to go out and make disciples of all the nations! (Mt. 28:18-20)
